Michael Boivin, RPh, BScPhm
Michael is a pharmacist and president of CommPharm Consulting Inc. He has worked as a clinical author, researcher and consultant on a large number of healthcare projects, including continuing education programs dealing with every major system of the body.
Michael is committed to producing continuing education for pharmacists, nurses and physicians that is practical and responsive to frontline practice. Mike also continues to work as a frontline pharmacy practitioner where he utilizes his clinical knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
Betty Golightly, BScPhm
Betty graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta and has practiced in retail-based pharmacy for most of her 20-year career. For over a decade, she has worked to combine her passions for travel and medicine. Betty has a Foundation in Travel Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). In 2006, Betty successfully challenged the International Society of Travel Medicine “Certificate of Knowledge Examination” and was one of the first pharmacists in Alberta to be “Authorized to Administer Medications by Injection.”
After several years of sufficiently honing the skills necessary to effectively run a pre-travel health centre, Betty opened her first clinic. Go Travel Health offers pre-travel consultations and immunization services. In addition to her practice at Go Travel Health Inc., Betty is a part-time Instructor in the Pharmacy Assistant Program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Polytechnic (SAIT-Polytechnic). As well, she co-facilitates the Injection Course for Pharmacists (Calgary). Betty has been a member of the Alberta Association of Travel Health Professionals since 1998 and a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine since 2003.
Iris Krawchenko R.Ph. B.Sc. Phm.
Iris graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Pharmacy in 1985. She is a pharmacist consultant in Hamilton and a former owner of Dell Pharmacies. She is past president of the Ontario College of Pharmacists, and in 2007 she received the Pharmacist of the Year Award from the Ontario Pharmacists’ Association.
Milena Kudus, RPh, BScPhm
Milena graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto in 1995. Since that time she has been a practicing pharmacist and manager of a Dell Pharmacy in Hamilton, Ontario.
Milena received her Certificate in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine in 2008 and has been offering travel health services at her pharmacy since that time.
Nora MacLeod-Glover, BScPhm, PharmD
Nora graduated in pharmacy in 1984 from the University of Alberta. Nora completed her PharmD from the University of Toronto in 2008. She has worked in numerous areas of healthcare including community, hospital and the regulatory arenas.
Nora has provided diabetes care to patients within the community setting with a focus on adherence and lifestyle management and also within an outpatient clinic setting helping patients manage metabolic effects of drug therapy. She also supports physicians in managing insulin therapy. She currently works in a Complex Care facility providing support to a variety of patients including chronic palliative patients and patients requiring long-term wound care, many of whom have diabetes.
Denise O’Hanian, BScPhm, CDE
Denise graduated from the University of Toronto in 1983. She currently practices community pharmacy at Dell Pharmacy in Brantford, Ontario, where she resides. She obtained her Certification in Diabetes Education in 2008.
Denise sits on a planning committee for the local chapter of the Canadian Diabetes Association and speaks to various community groups about diabetes and medications. In 2010 Denise completed the Ottawa marathon with Team Diabetes to raise money for diabetes education and research.
Dorothy Pardalis BSc.Phm. CAE, CDE
Dorothy Pardalis graduated in June 1998 with a BScPhm from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto. As a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Asthma Educator (CAE), and TEACH-trained Smoking Cessation specialist, Dorothy works as a community pharmacist, specializing in patient-focused services such as smoking cessation, disease state management, and comprehensive medication reviews.
Dorothy also works as a clinical pharmacist at the Tilbury District Family Health Team where she conducts comprehensive patient consultations including diabetes, smoking cessation, and lung health.
Tom Smiley, RPh, BscPhm, PharmD
Tom is a pharmacist who managed a community pharmacy in Southern Ontario for 16 years before returning to school and receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1998 from the University of Toronto.
Tom is now President of Pharmavision Health Consulting Inc., where he specializes in providing continuing education to healthcare professionals in areas that help to move clinical practice forward and assist practitioners in adapting to the changing environment of today’s professional practice settings.
Tom has a particular interest in nurturing interprofessional relationships and interdisciplinary care models and in 2008 was presented with the Canadian Pharmacist of the Year award by the Canadian Pharmacists Association.
